[ Evanescence ] : Oct 4, 2006

Evanescence es una banda estadounidense de rock alternativo fundado en Little Rock, Arkansas en 1998 por la vocalista Amy Lee y el ex-guitarrista Ben Moody.

Luego de grabar dos EPs independientes, Evanescence EP y Sound Asleep EP y un demo llamado Origin en el ano 2000 con ayuda de la disquera Bigwig Enterprises, la banda lanzó su primer album de estudio, Fallen con la disquera Wind-up Records en el ano 2003. Fallen vendio mas de 14 millones de copias alrededor del mundo, por lo que la banda gano dos premios Grammy. Un ano mas tarde, la banda lanzo su primer album en vivo, Anywhere but Home, el cual vendio mas de 1 millon de copias alrededor del mundo. En el 2006, la banda lanzo su segundo album de estudio, The Open Door, el cual ha vendido hasta la fecha más de 5 millones de copias.

Durante toda su trayectoria, la banda ha sufrido abruptos cambios en su alineación, como la partida del co-fundador y guitarrista Moody en el 2003, el guitarrista John LeCompt y el baterista Rocky Gray en el 2007, siendo Lee, la única integrante original de la banda.
